Air-gapped
A deployment with no connection to external networks — physically or logically isolated from the internet — so data cannot leave and remote access cannot reach in. It is the strictest form of on-premises operation.
An air-gapped system is the strictest on-prem posture: it runs on an isolated network with no route to the public internet. It is used where any data egress is unacceptable — defence, government, finance, and the most sensitive healthcare and legal work.
For transcription, air-gapped means the model weights, the audio and the outputs all stay inside the isolated environment: no cloud APIs, no telemetry, and no license “phone-home”. By definition this rules out every cloud transcription service and requires a tool that can install and run fully offline — model files included. It is the technical answer to the hardest HIPAA, privilege and classified-data requirements.
